My name is John (IOANE in Tahitian)and I am from Vancouver Canada,my wife and I have just returned Aug 2nd from a month vacation in the society islands of French Polynesia we visited Tahiti, Moorea,Huahine,Raiatea,Tahaa and Bora Bora. Let me start with the service at Tahiti Nui Travel,EXCELLENT is the word Delphine was our agent and I must assure everyone that for service and speedy answers to your questions she is excellent we had our answers within 1 day if not the same day by email of course (Sadly we heard that Delphine is no longer with TNT).When we arrived in Tahiti at 3AM the agency staff was there & prompt in giving us our documents and explaining how the voucher system works. We had all our required documents, vouchers, inter islands plane tickets with Air Tahiti.Being an airline pilot I must admit that I was a bit apprehensive regarding inter island flights ie: over booking etc but to my big surprise we boarded our intended flight each time it was time to fly to another island. The ATR 42/72 aircrafts are well maintained, clean and reliable I had the chance to discuss with some of the pilots and every one is friendly and helpfull. I recommend Tahiti and it's islands to any one looking for something out of this world. The Tahitian people are friendly always smiling and they're culture and tradition will blow you away. I would recommend to any one to go in July during HEIVA time that's when they have danse, singing and many other competitions throught the islands these will simply leave you speachless. In TAHITI we stayed 2 days at the ROYAL TAHITIAN hotel wich was clean and had a nice garden the beach was black sand all I would recommend is that they should rake the leafs the beach just needs a little daily maintenance, the staff was very nice. We then stayed at the HOTEL HIBISCUS on MOOREA,charming ambiance the hotel is actually several garden bungalows with only 1 (bungalow #1) right by the beach. A word of CAUTION if you want that bungalow be prepared to chase people away OCCASIONNALLY from the front of your bungalow the management will assist you if you get somme one a bit stuborn in leaving your space. We had one guy coming on our balcony to take our table to picknick in front of our bungalow PAPI as we all call him is the owner and was very quick in telling this person that he was WAY OF LIMIT and had him move at once. I recommended to PAPI to have edges around that particular bungalow to eliminate this situation often caused by INCONSIDERATE PEOPLE who think they are home every where they go. This charming hotel is managed by a familly mom, dad, son, daughter and daughter in law and all of them are VERY NICE.I recommend it for those with medium budget.Moorea is clean beyon belief, go see for yourself. Then 5 days in HUAHINE at the TE TIARE BEACH RESORT excellent place good service, good food, good heiva show given by the locals, friendly staff, great beach, the beach bubgalow we had was perfect.Free shuttle to the town of Fare in Huahine because you have to take a boat to go to the Te TIARE which is great you get to see the island from the water.Dont expect big malls and big stores in Huahine its a small charming town but you will find what you need and its people are great, just great. Then 3 days in RAIATEA at the TENAPE hotel, colonial style hotel, clean beautiful surroundings, no beach at the hotel but there is a pool, the owner and his wife manage the place they are very friendly, food very good, service excellent.Room very clean. Then TAHAA island, we visited only the island did not stay at any hotel we had a friend there, but the island is worth visiting especially with TAHAA PEARL TOUR.The owner BRUNO will take you on a tour that you are not about to forget. His tour takes you all around the island of Tahaa and includes a stop on a private motu (small island) for a meal prepared by a typical Tahitian familly and the food is fit for a king, then you visit the lagonarium, swimm with sting rays, turtles, black tip shark, then swim in a coral garden between 2 motu, visit a Pearl farm, a Vanilla farm.Bruno will explain everything and will not let you down, you get your $ worth and the price is reasonnable. Then 5 days at the PEARL BEACH RESORT on BORA BORA,service excellent, staff very friendly and helpfull we had a overwater bungalow at the very far end (#44) the view & the lagoon simply superbe, beautifull beach, the hotel complex just awesome, free shuttle to the town of Vaitape but remember this is a 5 star hotel so think $$$$$$$$$.The bungalow was clean very nicely decorated. Then 5 days at the BEACHCOMBER INTERCONTINENTAL in PAPEETE on the island of TAHITI. Great staff very good service, good food, beautifull surroundings and dont miss the mini HEIVA show they have on a small motu next to the hotel we had the chance to watch the GRAND BALLET TAHITIEN (ROYAL TAHITIAN BALLET) it is Tahiti's professional danse group theyre show will blow away. The room we had was deluxe lagoon view room, very clean nice view of Moorea from the balcony. Papeete the capital is a great city night clubs party time is friday, saturday you will find plenty of night life, dont miss the TO'ATA and VAIETE SQUARES that's where the roulottes are. These are a mini van transformed into a kitchen the food is awesome and you get all kinds of foods. My wife in I fell in love with French Polynesia and its people and are already planning our next trip to visite the other islands like the SOCIETY & TUAMOTU ARCHIPELAGO and TAHITI NUI TRAVEL will be our reservation agency. |
